The School Fund
Most parents decide to send their children to a Christian school because they know that their child will be educated in a Christian environment and because they know that the school will provide an excellent education.
The quality of Christian schools is such that the Government have granted many of them ‘voluntary aided’ status. St Edward’s Royal Free Ecumenical Middle School is a voluntary-aided school. This means that while most of our income is derived from local Government funds, as a Christian school, we must contribute 12% of the cost for major improvements and for the maintenance of our school buildings. To fund this 12% cost, all families are kindly asked to make a voluntary contribution each year. If the money is not raised, the work cannot be undertaken.
Through the contribution of families and the generous support of parents to the School Fund we have together been able to provide the facilities that the children now benefit from in our school. Recent projects include:
- New canopy near gym
- New entrance gates by recreation ground
- Refurbished classrooms
- New office space
- New classroom furniture
- Picnic benches
- Playground maintenance
None of these works would have been possible without the valuable contribution made by parents.
There is an ever continuing need to refurbish our existing facilities to meet the requirements of today’s education standards and improve the learning environment of the school for the benefit of all the children, staff and parents.
The School Fund is administered during the school year. This means that each October all parents will receive a letter explaining what the School Fund is and kindly asking for voluntary contributions for that school year.
My School Fund
Join the My School Fund initiative to help boost our budget
We’re pleased to announce that St Edward’s Royal Free is part of the My School Fund initiative. This innovative scheme allows for us to be able to boost our school’s budget with your help.
How does it work?
Parents, guardians and carers can sign up to the scheme for free and start earning cashback on the things they buy in participating retail stores, including Sainsbury’s and Argos. As you spend you’ll receive 2% cashback in the form of eGift vouchers that can be redeemed in participating stores. By linking your spend to our school on the My School Fund website we’ll also earn 1% cashback on your spend.
Add that all up across our school’s network of families and together we can all make a big difference!
How to get involved
